Abd al-Rahman b. Kamal al-Din Abi Bakr b. Muhammad Sabiq al-Din Khudr al-Khudairi al-Asyuti (عبد الرحمن بن كمال الدين أبي بكر بن محمد سابق الدين خضر الخضيري الأسيوطي), entitled Jalal al-Din (جلال الدين; literally "Majesty of the Faith") and known as al-Suyuti (السيوطي), was the most prolific writer in Islamic history. Al-Suyuti was born in Cairo in 1445 and died there in 1505. His writings span many topics. As a jurist, he followed the Shafi'i madh'hab.
