Some Islamic apologists like to claim that the Quran gives us specific information about endometrium (epithelial layer of uterus). But in reality, the verse they use only says a vague statement about wombs.

The miracle claim

The womb lining (Endometrium) changes thickness during menstrual cycle. During menstrual cycle the thickness of the womb lining (Endometrium) increases several folds (2-16mm). This was discovered recently. However 1400 years ago the Quran said that Allah knows every decrease and increase to the womb.

[Quran 13.8] Allah knows what every female bears, and every decrease and increase to the wombs. With Him, everything is by measure.

The thickness of the womb lining (Endometrium) depends on the stage of the cycle but 1400 years ago it was impossible to detect.

How could an illiterate man who lived 1400 years ago have known that there are changes to the womb?

The verse

Even in the apologetic translation, there's nothing specific:

Allah knows what every female bears, and every decrease and increase to the wombs. With Him, everything is by measure.

Quran 13:8, translated by apologists

The increase and decrease is to the womb as a whole, it doesn't say it refers to a small part of the womb, let alone endometrium specifically.

And the classical interpretation is:

وَمَا تَغِيضُ الاٌّرْحَامُ

(and by how much the wombs fall short), this refers to miscarriages,

وَمَا تَزْدَادُ

(or exceed), this refers to carrying her fetus in her womb for the full term. Some women carry their fetus for ten months, while others for nine months. Some terms are longer or shorter than others. This is the falling short or exceeding that Allah the Exalted mentioned, and all this occurs by His knowledge.'

Ibn Kathir on 13:8
