Theism is the belief in Divine entities. There are generally two types of theism; Polytheism and Monotheism.
Polytheism is the belief in or worship of more than one god or goddess. While Monotheism is a belief in a single god. The opposite of theism is atheism, belief that no gods exist. Islamic is a religion whose scriptures and adherents claim to be highly monotheistic. Monotheism is the core of the concept of tawheed though it is not synonymous with this Islamic concept. Other religions have scriptures and adherents who claim that they are monotheistic, in particular Judaism and Christianity, although the Muslim scriptures and Muslim religious men accuse these religions of muddying their monotheism with shirk to one degree or another.
