The invention of printing press and publication houses and consequently spread of books every where is one of the marvelous prophecies of the Quran made in the dark ages of ignorance and illiteracy.

Rebuttal

The translation the author of this article is using is, again, a very loose one. Here's Yusuf Ali, Pickthal and Shakir:

Yusuf Ali: When the scrolls are laid open;

Pickthal: And when the pages are laid open,

Shakir: And when the books are spread,

Surah 81 is talking about what is supposed to happen on “Judgment Day”, and this is one of the final events the 'opening of the ledgers of people's deeds' before our judgment by Allah starts. Its nothing to do with publishing and globalization.

Conclusion

Not a fulfilled prophecy.
