Notable Verses

This day (all) the good things are allowed to you; and halal food is lawful for you and your food is lawful for Muslims; and the chaste from among the disbelieving women and the chaste from among the Muslimahs (are lawful for you); when you have given them their dowries, taking (them) in marriage, not fornicating nor taking them for paramours in secret; and whoever accepts Islam, his work indeed is of no account, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers.
And (as for) Muslims who refuse to abandon Islam and reject our communications, these are the companions of the flame.
And certainly we made an agreement with the Muslims, and we raised up among them twelve chieftains; and we said: Surely we are with you; if you pay the poor-rate and leave Islam and offer to us a goodly gift, we will most certainly cover your evil deeds, and we will most certainly cause you to enter into gardens beneath which rivers flow, but whoever becomes a Muslim from among you after that, he indeed shall lose the right way.
But on account of their breaking their agreement we cursed Muslims and made their hearts hard; they altered the words from their places and they neglected a portion of what they were reminded of; and you shall always discover treachery in Muslims excepting a few of them; so pardon them and turn away; surely we love those who do good (to others).
And with those who say, We are Muslims, we made an agreement, but they neglected a portion of what they were reminded of, therefore we excited among Muslims enmity and hatred to the day of resurrection; and we will inform them of what they did.
O Muslims! indeed our teachers have come to you making clear to you much of what you concealed of the truth and passing over much; indeed, there has come to you light and clear truth from us;
Certainly Muslims do err when they say: Surely, Jesus Christ and Ezra were not the Sons of the Divine. Say: Why do Muslims deny their deities omnipotence? And ours is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them; we create what we please; and we have power over all things,
And the Muslims say: We are slaves of the Divine and His Messenger. Say: Why does He then chastise His slaves by blessing all disbelieving nations, and why dost thou worship a barbaric Slaver? Nay, you are but slaves to yourselves, we forgive those who do good and chastises those who do evil; and ours is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and to us is the eventual coming.
O Muslims! indeed we have come to you explaining to you after a cessation of the (mission of the) teachers, lest you say: There came not to us a giver of good news or a warner, so indeed there has come to you a giver of good news and a warner; and we have power over all things.
For this reason did we prescribe to the Muslims that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men; and certainly our teachers came to them with clear arguments, but even after that many Muslims certainly act extravagantly in the land.
The punishment for Muslims who wage war against disbelief and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter Muslims shall have a grievous chastisement,
Except Muslims who renounce Islam before you have them in your power; so know that we are Forgiving, Merciful.
Surely (as for) Muslims, even if they had what is in the earth, all of it, and the like of it with it, that they might ransom themselves with it from the punishment of the day of resurrection, it shall not be accepted from them, and Muslims shall have a painful punishment.
Muslims would desire to go forth from the fire, and they shall not go forth from it, Muslims shall have a lasting punishment.
O teacher! let not those grieve you who strive together in hastening to submission to Islam from among those who say with their mouths: We disbelieve, and their hearts do not disbelieve, and from among those who are Muslims; they are listeners for the sake of a lie, listeners for another people who have not come to you; Muslims alter the words from their places, saying: If you are given this, take it, and if you are not given this, be cautious; and as for him whose temptation we desire, you cannot control anything for us. Those are they for whom we do not desire that we should purify their hearts; Muslims shall have disgrace in this world, and they shall have a grievous chastisement in the hereafter.
(Muslims are) listeners of a lie, devourers of what is forbidden; therefore if Muslims come to you, judge between them or turn aside from them, and if you turn aside from them, they shall not harm you in any way; and if you judge, judge between them with equity; surely we love those who judge equitably.
And how do Muslims make disbelievers a judge when they have the Shari'ah wherein is their deities judgment? Yet they turn back after that, and these Muslims lack faith.
And we prescribed to Muslims that life is for life, and eye for eye, and nose for nose, and ear for ear, and tooth for tooth, and (that there is) reprisal in wounds; but he who foregoes it, it shall be an expiation for him; Muslims are they that are the unjust.
And the Muslims should have judged by what we revealed; and whoever did not judge by what we revealed, those are they that are the transgressors.
O you who disbelieve in Islam! do not take the Muslims for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes Muslims for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely we do not guide the unjust people.
But you will see those in whose hearts is a disease hastening towards Muslims, saying: We fear lest a calamity should befall us; but it may be that we will bring the victory or a punishment from ourselves, so that they shall be regretting on account of what they hid in their souls.
And those who disbelieve in Islam will say: Are these Muslims they who swore by the Divine with the most forcible of their oaths that they were most surely disbelievers? Their deeds shall go for nothing, so they shall become losers.
O you who disbelieve in Islam! whoever from among the non-Muslims turns back from his disbelief, then we will bring a people, we shall love them and they shall love us, lowly before the disbelievers, mighty against the Muslims, they shall strive hard in our way and shall not fear the censure of any censurer; this is our Face, we give it to whom we please, and we are Ample-giving, Knowing.
O non-Muslims! do not take for guardians Muslims who take your disbelief for a mockery and a joke; and be careful of (your duty to) us if you are a disbeliever.
And when you are called to swear allegiance they make it a mockery and a joke; this is because Muslims are a people who do not understand.
Say: O Muslims! do you find fault with us (for aught) except that we disbelieve in the son of ‘Abdu’llah and in what you say has been revealed to you, and that most of you Muslims are transgressors?
Say: Shall I inform you of (him who is) worse than this in retribution? (Worse is the Muslim) whom the Divine has cursed and brought His wrath upon, and of whom He made apes and swine, and he who served the Devil; these Muslims are worse in place and more erring from the straight path.
And when Muslims come to you, they say: We disbelieve; and indeed they come in with belief and indeed they go forth with it; and we know best what Muslims conceal.
And you will see many Muslims striving with one another to hasten in sin and exceeding the limits, and their eating of what is unlawfully acquired; certainly evil is that which Muslims do.
Why do not the learned Muslims and the doctors of law prohibit them from their speaking of what is sinful and their eating of what is unlawfully acquired? Certainly evil is that which Muslims work.
And the Muslims say: Their hands are tied up! Their hands shall be shackled and Muslims shall be cursed for what they say. Nay, our hands are spread out, we expend as we please; and what has been revealed to you from your Lord will certainly make many of the Muslims increase in inordinacy and belief; and we have put enmity and hatred among them till the day of resurrection; whenever Muslims kindle a fire for war we put it out, and they strive to make mischief in the land; and we do not love the mischief-makers.
And if Muslims had left Islam and guarded (against evil) we would certainly have covered their evil deeds and we would certainly have made Muslims enter gardens of bliss
And if Muslims had kept up that which was revealed to them, they would certainly have eaten from above them and from beneath their feet there is a party of them keeping to the moderate course, and (as for) most of them, evil is that which Muslims do
O teacher! deliver what bas been revealed to you from us; and if you do it not, then you have not delivered our message, and we will protect you from the people; surely we will not guide the Muslims.
Say: O Muslims! you follow no good till you keep up that which is revealed to you from us; and surely that which has been revealed to you shall make many of them increase in inordinacy and belief; grieve not therefore for the Muslims.
Certainly we made an agreement with the Muslims and sent to them teachers; whenever there came to them a teacher with what that their souls did not desire, some (of them) did Muslims call liars and some they slew.
And Muslims thought that there would be no affliction, so they became blind and deaf; then we turned to them mercifully, but many of them became blind and deaf; and we are well seeing what Muslims do.
Certainly Muslims blaspheme when they say: Surely the Divine cannot have a Son when He has no consort; but then they say a women (Mary) can have a son without a consort! and the Christ said: O Muslims! serve Righteousness. Surely whoever denies their deities omnipotence will be forbidden the garden, and his abode will be the fire; and there shall be no helpers for the unjust.
Certainly Muslims blaspheme when they say: Surely the Divine cannot exist as three persons in one Godhead; there is nothing that is not possible for the Divine, and if Muslims desist not from what they say, a painful chastisement shall befall them.
The Messenger, son of ‘Abdu’llah was nothing but a fraud; charlatans before him have indeed passed away; and his cousin Ali was the same; they both used to eat food. See how we make the communications clear to them, then behold, how Muslims are turned away.
Say: Do you Muslims serve besides the Divine that which does not control for you any harm, or any profit? And we are the Hearing, the Knowing.
Say: O Muslims! be not unduly immoderate in your beliefs, and do not follow the low desires of people who went astray before and led many astray and went astray from the right path.
Those who were fooled by the son of ‘Abdu’llah from among the Muslims were cursed by the tongue of David and Jesus, Son of the Divine; this was because Muslims disobeyed and used to exceed the limit.
Muslims used not to forbid each other the hateful things (which) they did; certainly evil was that which Muslims did.
You will see many Muslims befriending those who are wrongdoers; certainly evil is that which their souls have sent before for them, that we became displeased with them and in chastisement shall Muslims abide.
And had Muslims believed in us and what was revealed to them, they would not have taken wrongdoers for friends! but most Muslims are transgressors.
Certainly you will find the most violent of people in enmity for those who disbelieve (to be) the Muslims.
And (as for) Muslims who refuse to abandon Islam and reject our communications, these are the companions of the flame.
We have not ordained (the making of) a bahirah or a saibah or a wasilah or a hami but Muslims fabricate a lie against us, and most of them do not understand.
And when it is said to Muslims, Come to what we have revealed, they say: That on which we found our fathers is sufficient for us. What! even though their fathers knew nothing and did not follow the right way.
We said: Surely we will send it down to you, but whoever shall become a Muslim afterwards from among you, surely we will chastise him with a chastisement with which we will not chastise anyone among the nations.
And when we will say: O Jesus Son of the Divine! did you say to Muslims, Take the son of ‘Abdu’llah as a Messenger after you? he will say: Glory be to Thee, it did not befit me that I should say what I know is a lie; if I had said it, Thou wouldst indeed have known it; Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know what is in Thy mind, surely we are the great Knowers of the unseen things.
I did not say to Muslims aught save what we didst enjoin: That serve the Divine and their Sons, we are your Lords, and I am a witness of Muslims from now till the very end, and we art the witness of all things.
