The Quran doesn't say that a natural wind can snap trees.

"Miracle"

Category 5 storms on the Saffir-Simpson scale can uproot or snap trees. Some Islamic apologists claim that it was described in these verses [1]:

69:6 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind

69:7 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

  • The verses are obviously about supernatural wind sent by Allah as a punishment. So this has nothing to do with science. Science studies only nature. Everything is possible outside the laws of nature.
  • The mention of trees is preceded by "as if", so the verse doesn't even speak about actual snapped trees. It only says that people were as if they were trunks of palm trees.
