:The intent of this article seems to be to claim about how Arab/Islamic culture is barbaric and inferior to that of the Assyrians and other non-Muslim civilizations that were prevailent at the time of the Islamic Conquests, and that the Arabs just 'stole' their accomplishments, not to criticise Islam, and is thus irrelevant to this site's mission. In addition, saying that a civilisation's achievements do not count because they were based upon a preceding civilizations seems to be rather poor historiography, which goes against the site's goal of being as scholarly as possible. Articles or categories for deletion (ACfD) is where we discuss whether an article or category should be deleted. Articles or categories listed here are debated for up to five days, after which the deletion process proceeds based on community consensus. If there are no responses in 5 days to a certain ACfD, it will be assumed that there is no opposition to the deletion proposal and so the page or category will be deleted. Since we dont have that many articles to be deleted, just vote below on this page. Deletions may be postponed if discussions are still continuing and a clear consensus has not been reached.

What Arab Civilization?

The intent of this article seems to be to claim about how Arab/Islamic culture is barbaric and inferior to that of the Assyrians and other non-Muslim civilizations that were prevailent at the time of the Islamic Conquests, and that the Arabs just 'stole' their accomplishments, not to criticise Islam, and is thus irrelevant to this site's mission. In addition, saying that a civilisation's achievements do not count because they were based upon a preceding civilizations seems to be rather poor historiography, which goes against the site's goal of being as scholarly as possible. Finally, the author uses highly sensational language ("Arab/Islamic civilization is not a progressive force, it is a regressive force; it does not give impetus, it retards"..."If the "foreign" culture cannot be destroyed, then it is expropriated, and revisionist historians claim that it is and was Arab, as is the case of most of the Arab "accomplishments" you cited in your speech") to get his point across, which violates this site's policy of avoiding "sensationalist and extremist expressions". Since this article largely consists of a letter written by a third party that is not affiliated with this site, I beleive this should be taken down. 99.225.71.144 17:54, 8 January 2013 (PST)
The "about us" page states that the site is "notable for dealing extensively with false propaganda and Islamic pseudoscience," so I don't agree with your assertion that it's irrelevant to this site's mission. In fact the site has an entire category dealing with the stuff. I also don't see where he ever claims that a civilisation's achievements do not count because they were based upon a preceding civilizations. And it doesn't violate this site's policies, because the site's policies obviously apply to the site's editors. It doesn't apply to a document or transcription we quote. For example, there are also pages quoting terrorist transcripts and poems (see Terrorist Phone Transcripts (2008 Mumbai attacks) & Letters (Mohammed Bouyeri)). These obviously contain opinions we do not agree with, but we cannot rewrite or alter them. And to apply our guidelines to editors on them (thus having to delete them) would be ridiculous. --Sahabah (talk) 01:58, 9 January 2013 (PST)
