Problems with the Apostasy translation

Hi ‎SarkaLakosilova and welcome to WikiIslam! Thanks for the translation you are working on in your userpage (I have now moved it to your sandbox). Could you please translate the following heading, "Introduction to Apostasy in Islam"?

Normally we do not accept translations of core articles, however this one is different because the introduction can stand as an article by itself (for example, see this French translation of the intro).

However, there are still a few problems with your translation that we would like you to correct:

  1. You wrote, "Pokud bychom měli konstatovat, že muslimové, kteří souhlasí s trestem smrti, jsou extremisté, pak musíme na základě výše uvedeného dojít k závěru, že většina muslimů na světě jsou extremisté (přes 90% celé světové muslimské populace)." That part in brackets was not in the original and translates as "over 90% of the entire world's Muslim population." The logic behind that statement is flawed.
  2. You wrote, "Tento výklad začal být zpochybňován až nedávno, veskrze pouze některými zastánci této myšlenky, kteří patří k 3% muslimů žijících v rozvinutých zemích západního světa." západního světa was not in the original and translates as "Western world". That statement is incorrect. The original statement says, "more-developed regions". According to PEW, that includes Japan. The Japanese are not a part of the "Western world" or of European origin.

The reason why we ask editors to provide exact translations is perfectly demonstrated here. Please correct those errors that I have mentioned and any other part of the translation you may have altered. Thank you. --Sahabah (talk) 08:26, 12 January 2014 (PST)

Another problem I noticed is the sub-heading "Odpadlictví od Islámu a právo Sharia". The original heading is just "Shari'ah" not "Apostasy from Islam and Sharia Law". This change is mainly aesthetic but the original is again preferred. --Sahabah (talk) 08:43, 12 January 2014 (PST)

______

Hello, thank you for suggestions. I did not have any third person to check the translation. I am wondering how you were able to spot the errors:-) I will correct them of course.

"Introduction to Apostasy in Islam" can be translated as "Úvod do problematiky odpadlictví v Islámu". The word "problematiky" (matter of or topic of) was added because without it it would sound a bit unnatural. I think the heading cannot be translated exactly word by word in this case. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SarkaLakosilova (talkcontribs) on 12:12, 21 January 2014

HI SarkaLakosilova. Thanks for those corrections. I just used Google Translate to read it. GT is far from perfect but it gives you a general idea of what is being said. I will create a page for this article now and add it to the front page. Thanks again! --Sahabah (talk) 15:34, 21 January 2014 (PST)

List of Killings Ordered or Supported by Muhammad

Hello, I posted another translation to Sandbox. Can you please post it? Should I do it this way (first putting it to sandbox) all the time when I want to post something? Thank you. SL

Hi SarkaLakosilova. That looks excellent. No, you don't have to put it in a sandbox first. Feel free to create the pages with future translations. Just remember to put this template at the top: {{Underconstruction}} or this one {{incompletetranslations}}
I will then remove the template when I add the links etc to the article. Could you let me know what the translated heading is for this article? --Sahabah (talk) 12:51, 26 January 2014 (PST)

OK, thank you, next time I will do it this way. Translation of the heading:

List of Killings Ordered or Supported by Muhammad - Seznam vražd nařízených nebo podporovaných Mohamedem

Thanks! You can view the page here: Seznam vražd nařízených nebo podporovaných Mohamedem. --Sahabah (talk) 11:48, 27 January 2014 (PST)

Sandbox page for Odpadlictvi

Hi, I moved a certain article you were working on to the main Sandbox namespace: WikiIslam:Sandbox/Odpadlictvi (the "I" in the URL at the end can be changed later by you if needed). --Axius (talk) 15:23, 18 February 2014 (PST)

Ax, I've deleted that page now. It's already been completed and added to the list of articles a while ago. --Sahabah (talk) 15:31, 18 February 2014 (PST)
Great thanks. --Axius (talk) 15:32, 18 February 2014 (PST)

Notepad plus plus

Its definitely a good idea to use syntax highlighting here and thanks for making that user defined language. I installed notepad plus and plus and tried it out. Sample screenshot. This is good but I think it can be improved.

I'm thinking Mediawiki syntax stuff must have been done before by others so we should try to find out about that first.

What we ideally want is an extension that we can install and it highlight codes right here in the edit box. We can try to find something that exists and install it here, or find existing mediawiki syntax highlight mechanisms like the one you made. --Axius (talk) 12:23, 28 February 2014 (PST)

Hello, Notepad++ was recommended to me by a friend and he helped me also with that user defined language. Yes, he mentioned that a mechanism like that shall be incorporated to the website if possible, so I hope you will find a solution soon.

I saw a few solutions and will see if it works. In the meanwhile thanks for doing this one. --Axius (talk) 13:07, 2 March 2014 (PST)

Hi all, so there's some highlighting going on in the Edit box now. Its the Wiked editor Check it out.

Its adding a lot of junk in the Edit toolbar in the buttons area which I didnt know it would install but - looks like those are some additional features. There's two areas. The other is at the right of the screen. I dont know if its any good or not but we'll have to see. Help page. One thing I like is that while in the Edit box, we can control-click and it will activate that URL. For example try --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Cacycle/wikEd --Axius (talk) 14:25, 2 March 2014 (PST)

Is there anyway to toggle between the regular edit screen and this? I'm finding it very confusing and intimidating ATM, so I can only imagine what someone new to wikis would feel. That user help page says the text editor is for regular to advanced wiki users, so I'm assuming there's a way for new editors not to see this? --Sahab (talk) 16:02, 2 March 2014 (PST)
One button in the right toolbar area turns it off. Its the one in the bottom left corner with a pencil. Hover is "toggle between classic ...". I can try doing it so its usually off and can be turned on if a user wants to. One thing that is good is how it makes the headings bolder. Maybe the template quotes being in gray background isnt good. We can look at specific features and see how to fine tune them. --Axius (talk) 16:40, 2 March 2014 (PST)
That is awesome. Thanks. I've been just looking at all the buttons and highlights for a while and it does look real cool and useful. Yeah, I think having it off as the default view would be best. When I first clicked edit, I thought "WTH is this?" I'm sure that's the reaction a lot of new users would have. --Sahab (talk) 16:47, 2 March 2014 (PST)
