To Do:

Records and firsts needing source:

  1. Saudi Arabia is the first and only country to ever ban women from driving, for being women.
  2. Youngest divorcee ever in Saudi Arabia or Yemen
  3. The only countries to have no minimum marriage age are Saudi Arabia and Yemen
  4. Gulf states, the first to ever apply 'gay tests'

Inventions - makes the article a joke?

The section on inventions with tuban bombs, butt bombs, etc. makes this page look like a 12 year olds fantasy. Could someone fix it and at least put something not idiotic in this section? So maybe Islam invented nothing which is fine since a religion is not alive and can't do things. It is basically impossible that Muslims invented nothing since most human beings are creative and have a good intellect. So, I would recommend either adding a list of Muslim inventions or deleting this section. Thanks Iridium (talk) 14:31, 5 August 2014 (PDT)

These are all relevant inventions for example:
The yellow badge that was to be eventually used by the Nazis against the Jews, was invented by a Muslim caliph in Baghdad in the 9th century as a variant of the zunnār belt. This then spread to the western world in medieval times.[3]
They are all very relevant considering the teachings of Islam and its history. For example in this case the Yellow badge is linked to this article which is also a local article and it studies this topic in detail. And here's our article for Zunar which mentions "It was part of the clothing that non-Muslims under Dhimmitude were required to wear in order to differentiate themselves from Muslims."
As for adding a list of Muslim inventions, this is a website that focuses on criticism of Islam. All of these things put together show some important aspects of Islam. --Axius (talk | contribs) 18:44, 5 August 2014 (PDT)
"The section on inventions[sic] with tuban[sic] bombs, butt bombs, etc. makes this page look like a 12 year olds[sic] fantasy."
A few things that need to be clarified:
  • The section on "inventions" you are referring to is actually a section on innovations (if you check a dictionary you will learn that inventions and innovations are two related but very distinct things).
  • This section with "turban bombs, butt bombs, etc." is fully referenced.
  • Don't like the embarrassing names? Guess what? The references explicitly identify these innovations as "turban bombs, butt bombs, etc." There is even a fully referenced entry for a "donkey bomb" in there.
  • This is clearly not a "12 year old's fantasy", it is an Islamic terrorist's reality.
"Could someone fix it and at least put something not idiotic in this section?"
  • Every entry is fully referenced, so there is nothing to "fix" except reality. Sadly we can't help you there.
  • If you mean these innovations and the Muslim individuals behind them are "idiotic", then I agree with you. But be careful that this does not lead to you being accused of hate (this can happen very easily when criticizing terrorists who happen to be motivated primarily by the teachings of Islam).
"It is basically impossible that Muslims invented nothing since most human beings are creative and have a good intellect."
  • No one at WikiIslam has ever claimed "Muslims invented nothing". In fact many of the science-related articles make a point to mention that Muslims indeed have been behind a certain level of scientific progress, just like every other people-group to have ever existed.
  • "Most human beings are creative and have a good intellect"? That is debatable and sadly outside the scope of this website.
"So, I would recommend either adding a list of Muslim inventions or deleting this section. "
Angry at the ex-Muslims who simply document the existence of "turban bombs, butt bombs, etc.," rather than the terrorists who actually create and use these "turban bombs, butt bombs, etc." to murder and maim innocent Muslims? I would recommend getting your priorities straight. Thanks. --Sahab (talk) 13:43, 6 August 2014 (PDT)
Ok. Thanks. I am really not clear about what this whole website is about - even after reading the FAQ, etc. I thought that it was supposed to be more balanced and neutral. As Axius mentioned above, this website focuses exclusively on the criticism of Islam. I think that most people tend to feel that if some point of view is very extreme, it is more easy to discredit it (even though you have all your sources documented). I still don't understand why under "Inventions" and "Innovations" you don't have anything positive. This makes it seem extremely one sided. This particular page still causes me to have the impression that the whole website is a joke. That's why I still think you should either have positive innovations, or else call this section "negative innovations and inventions by Islam". The title makes it seem neutral, but the content only looks at negative things, hence the disconnect (which makes it seem like there's a hidden agenda). I hope I'm making sense. Is there anything such as a fair and balanced view of Hitler?
This article is also a reaction to false Islamic claims like [1] (as you can see the article's lead mentions that) and responds with "Here are actual firsts from Islam and Muslims and here is all the evidence behind it".
"This particular page still causes me to have the impression that the whole website is a joke." - many people disagree (read what they say)
You can also ask why we dont have anything positive from Muslims listed under Terrorism. What could be added about that to that section? Not a lot. Thats the point. There are very few actual inventions due to Islam or contributed by Muslims (hence the lack of nobel prizes for example). Sorry that you dont like the website or dont understand the mission (nothing we can do about that). You can go to MuslimWiki.com or Wikipedia.org; maybe you'll like those websites better. --Axius (talk | contribs) 19:21, 6 August 2014 (PDT)
