Sunan Abu Dawud

The Sunan Abi Dawud (سنن أبي داود) or "The Traditions of Abu Dawud" is one of the most esteemed collections of hadith in Sunni Islamic jurisprudence. It was put together scholar Abu Dawud Sulayman bin Ala'sht bin Ishaq bin Bashir Al'Azdi (أبو داود سليمان بن الأشعث بن إسحاق بن بشير الأزدي). Abu Dawud was born in Sajistan, an area that today sits in present Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, in the year 818 AD (202 hijri). The sunan is one of kutub al-sittah (كتب الستة), literally "the books of the six", that is one of the six accepted hadith collections according to the Sunni reckoning
