According to the Islamic tradition, the early Muslim community faced numerous threats and were in a near constant state of war with their neighbors. As such Muhammad utilized many stratagems of war against his enemies, including targeted assassination orders as well as at least one recorded case of mass execution of a troubling tribe of Jews. According to the tradition after the ascendance of Muhammad against his enemies in Mecca, false prophets or "liars" rose up against him such as the false prophet Musaylimah. Muhmmad responded to these false prophets by ordering their execution and the execution of their unrepentant followers as well.
