List of Muhammads Wives and Concubines

According to multiple sources, Muhammad had many wives and concubines.

  • Muhammad married 15 women and consummated his marriages with 13. (al-Tabari vol.9 p.126-127)
  • "The Prophet used to visit all his wives in a round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number." - Sahih Bukhari 1:5:268

Wives

The following is rough list of Muhammad’s wives, according to various Islamic sources[1]. It is possible that this number may still fall short of the actual number of wives he had.

Concubines

According to Merriam-Webster, a concubine is "a woman with whom a man cohabits without being married: as a: one having a recognized social status in a household below that of a wife".[26]

Many hadith specifically state that Muhammed had concubines. Here are a few of them:
