Character of Muhammad
Muhammad disliked those who left Islam.
Here we quote the argument of Muslims in favour of freedom of religion.
The last line is the addition of the Muslim arguers. They are desperate to prove that Muhammad opposed death penalty for leaving Islam. All they have is negative evidence based on assumption i.e. "there was no evidence demonstrating...." But they totally missed out one point. He used a simile to condemn a person leaving Islam.
So many poets sing praises of Muhammad's moral character. If they make sense, he should not have condemned someone's choice of religion, faith and belief.
The Muslim attempt to defend a single Bukhari quote is ignorant of other quotes where he ordered the mutilation and bleeding to death of many Bedouins who left Islam after robbing camels of a Muslim. Abu Bakr set an example of following Muhammad when he killed an unknown number of ex-Muslims as a caliph.
Lots of Muslims say "our prophet was a very honest man, he was renowned for his honesty in Mecca, Khadija proposed to him because of his honesty" et. al. This is hard to believe. How many rich women in the world choose a man because of his honesty and not his wealth or his earning capacity? How many Muslim women choose a bridegroom like Khadija did? By the way, how many Muslim women choose a bridegroom? Muslim women are starved of choices and decision making. Women's suppression in Islam is a popular reality.
Muslims also try to cite sources like this questions site did. This URL gives two citations for Muhammad's honesty and you find both of them false on a thorough search.
Why is all this propaganda spread about his honesty? It rules out the chances of raising any doubts about Muhammad's prophethood. Muhammad is honest, although according to poor or false sources. So then, nobody will say he is faking his conversation with Allah.
Another popular Muslim argument in defense of Muhammad's polygamy is that he "married a large number of women out of sympathy or to give them high status because their husbands had been killed in wars." However, Muhammad himself was responsible for killing those men by waging multiple wars.
Muslim debaters then blame the polytheists or Jews for provoking or starting these wars a very common argument which is found even in the books of most reliable Western scholars in recent times. Both Muslims and Western scholars seem to forget one thing. God was talking to Muhammad for 20 years. God could have stopped these wars. He could have discouraged violence in clear words in the Koran but he did nothing. Therefore, one can wonder if he is worthy of worship.
