Detailed testimonies[edit]

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

No intelligent woman would remain a Muslim, if she has the choice, given prevailing views of religious authorities in Iran (for Shia), Saudi Arabia (for Sunni), and the Islamic centers they fund (e.g. Al Azhar in Egypt, etc.). But it is forbidden for anyone to discuss this. The punishment can be death, jail, flogging, disinheritance, disowning, loss of jobs, loss of family, loss of marriage, etc. "No compulsion in religion" -- ha! Tell that to the Iranian or Saudi authorities (and similar governments).

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

Growing up, religion as a whole never made any sense to me. At around the age of 19, I really started to ask questions and investigate the answers. For awhile, I forced things to add up. I was always interested in early US history and the Founding Fathers and discovered that Thomas Jefferson was a Deist. This led me to investigate deism and those that also influenced him. Through investigating Deism, I came across Thomas Paine's "The Age of Reason" and it freed me completely from the shackles of religion. Currently, I really have no religious preference although I do like the idea of Norse Mythology as well as FSM.

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

I'm a 17 year old uk student who is now an apostate praise be to god if he exists. basically when I was 12 I found out the Qur'an is actually more boring in English than in Arabic because of the constant "eternal punishment" verses and constant kafir bashing and one verse in particular was the one about sun setting in a lake. To 12 year Old me who was a science addict this was quite strange and FALSE.but what ultimately made me leave Islam was the comparison of Muhammad and Jesus. After analysis I found comparing Jesus with Muhammad is an insult to Jesus, Muhammad should be compared with the likes of Hitler because of the expulsion and genocide of Jews in Arabia. If I was able to leave Islam by questioning the Qur'an. So should everyone else. I have a dream that one day that people will realize the myth of Islam and realize that it is just the work of a 7th century Arabian thug."falsehood by its nature is bound to perish"

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

I left Islam officially at the age of 14, but I pretty much stopped believing as early as 10 or 11. I had been forced to learn the quran in Arabic (Phonetics) despite myself not knowing how to speak it. I had no choice in this matter, If I refused i was subject to a beating. I started to wonder why women were forced to hide their beauty with headscarves but men not. Why Women were not imams, but men were. I realised that Islam was a very misogynistic religion, and it was not a free religion. As a 13 year old boy, My mother started to force me into taking arabic lessons afterschool, as i had not picked up on the language yet. I hated it. Those 3 hours everyday could've been spent on something useful, like extra school tuition or learning french, but instead I was forced to learn a language so i could read the holy book of a religion i did not believe in. I have now converted to Humanism.

I was curious to know more details about the prophets in Quran so I read the bible and discovered that Quran is just a weak, immature version of the bible.

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

My parents are originally from Pakistan and are very religious and conservative.

I had always had problems with my religion of birth. Certain things just didn't make sense to me. After thinking about Islam and God for a long time I decided to leave Islam. Islam simply wasn't the 'perfect way of life' I had thought it to be for most of my life.

Talking to my parents about my issues with Islam wasn't easy. We would get into lots of fights and arguments. I didn't tell them I left Islam though. Just that I was having doubts.

I can't ever tell them I have left Islam because then they would just disown me. And I don't want that to happen. They're my family.

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

I am a 13 year old ex muslim. I was brought up in a muslim family and until a year ago I had no doubts about my religion and thought everything about it was true no matter what. When I read quran and Hadith on net and by books I realised I was brainwashed my whole life. Islam wants to kill non muslims and degrades women. It's restrictions like not showing awrah and not listening to music, drawing pictures, dating etc sounded totally ridiculous. I mean isn't it better to marry someone you love ( haven't had any fb or gf though cause I'm young and lived in a muslim society until few months ago) I also found lots of scientific errors in quran for example saying that sperm is produced between ribs and backbone and that babies are made from a clot of blood. For these reasons, I left islam and am happy being an athiest

I realised how badly women were treated in Islam and the idea of fire and torture did not reconcile with the idea of a merciful God. I discovered how man made Islam was with thoughts of a Bronze Age ideas of a tyrant dictator converted into a god

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

knowing the cruelty of Sharia laws made me start questioning about my belief. I couldn't believe God asked for stoning people and cutting off thieves' hands. What a barbarian God. Another reason was the fact that Almost every one thinks that they're lucky for being born into the right religion. That made me realize that I'd been Muslim simply because I was born in Saudi and not because of any sort of supporting evidence to my belief.

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

I was born as a muslim and under islamic instructions which i have to follow it literally . I was so fanatical to islam . "Listen" "do" and "don't discuss" i used to be that girl. But some how There was a voice in side me During my childhood asking me numerous questions but i didn't have a single answer. nobody could answer my questions because it's forbidden to go through spiritual stuffs and god its self. After i reached a maturity age a lot of things had changed. Always i hear this" you are a girl and you are not allow to do what boys do so i was angery most of the time because of boys and girls differences but some how i calmed my self by saying i am a muslim stop complaining. I couldn't stand this pressure for a long period of time but i had to deal with it. With time, as i am growing up, my believes , my faith in god , my thoughts that god will help us and he is our protector, are gone . I asked my self where is the god while there are cruelty and injustice surrounding us with all those inhumanity people living among us,where is he when i need him and begging his mercy . Finally , when my cruel selfish boy friend left me while his mum was in our home asking my hand to her son, this was crisis to me . All my faith faded away . I found that god not exist . I can't be muslim any more and it is really hard to face people i know with my new believes . I kept silence and i am keeping silence until now because i am a girl and that fact will ruin my future, will keep me in loneliness with no husband no life and our society will despise me.I don't hate any one and i respect islamic religion because in the end it's my family religion but i need to be accepted by our society which it's imposible. i am a bout to explode . It's my first testimony in public.

It is the best thing I ever did. There is no religion that is so evil and manipulative as islam. People are fooled, and the Saudiarabia just want to spread islam at all costs and take over the world to gain even more power in the name of the ghost in the sky.

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

I left Islam because I realized how poor the quality of life is, and that Islam is really nothing more than a religion designed for medieval Arabs by medieval Arabs. The funny thing is, I never thought this before I had read it in an English translation of the Koran. Ironically, by trying to defend themselves, these knowledgeable sheiks opened my eyes to the fact that yes Islam is a ploy by Arabic men 1400 years ago. Do you really believe that god, the divine creator of the universe familiar with all peoples and creation would speak to the prophet and tell him that Arabic is the language for heaven and HIS own book has to be written in Arabic. Religion is like a cheap business. Islam says if you convert, you are "afforded" paradise. They're basically saying sell us your life and we'll sell you this afterlife we make the rules on how to live and think. Open your eyes people. Islam is a backwards religion. Think for yourselves.

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

Me and my parents were never very happy with the practices of muslims. In order to follow the preaching in Quran, they force us to do all such things which our heart dont allow such as hating other religions. I hate to hear the news where a muslim was involved in terrorist activities and ultimately I decided to move on. I could not take the burden of wrong doing and cannot hear any further explanation as Allah has directed us to do so or to kill someone. I want to leave in a peaceful place and therefore I decided to move on. Though my parents too hate it much they could not leave it because of the social pressure I guess.

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

I grew up in a strict Muslim household my mom is serious on religion but doesn't pray all the time my whole life I thought of myself as very blessed to be born Muslim.... I asked questions & I never got answers I'm so shocked my whole life is a lie this is all fairytales I left Islam cause of many reasons for example. I saw hadith saying Muhammad said "Bukhari (84:64-65) - "Allah's Apostle: 'During the last days there will appear some young foolish people who will say the best words but their faith will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they will have no faith) and will go out from (leave) their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for whoever kills them shall have reward on the Day of Resurrection." This is absolutely insane & barbaric no questioning. My whole life I thought as of Islam as logical. But obviously it's not. How can stones speak for example? Makes no sense. Sahih Hadiths contradict alot. If Islam is perfect it shouldn't have any mistakes but I can find a million. If God is logical then why does he make us believe in illogical nonsense that wouldn't make sense to us? That's if he really exists. To this day is I haven't told anyone I left Islam but I glad I did. Religion makes no sense and is a waste of time

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

I grew up with a lot of fighting in my house. I used to pray that my family would get along. But it's over now. I haven't come out to my family that i no longer want to practice islam i will pretend because these are sacrifices that we need to make. When i go off to college i will live my life to the fullest forget the limitations. I can find my own way around.

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

Islam is an extremely threatening religion because their holy book(quran)is full of threats against unbelievers. It says every unbeliever shall be severely tortured in hell just because they are not believing in god. Therefore I left Islam gradually and now I am not a Muslim.I don't believe in any of the six pillars of iman .The only reasons I didn't leave Islam before 18 years was because-

1.I was afraid of the torture of hell. 2.Muslim's claim of scientific and other miracles in quran.

Even though I was 90% sure that Islam is a fake religion created by Arabs(because of quran's contradictions, threats and stupidity) but still I was very much depressed for almost two years thinking of the fate of unbelievers in hell because of the 10% possibility.

I only kept constantly praying and begging to God-"let islam be made by ancient idiotic arabs" and now I am 100% sure after reading several posts on wiki-islam and Robert Spencer's "Did Muhammad exist" that Islam is a fake religion made by arabs and muhammad didnt exist as we know of him today.

Now I have no fear of anything except death since nobody knows where our soul will be after our death. Now I am a free man and wish to live a free life and investigate about the mysteries of nature.

Testimony of Leaving Islam[edit]

I went to a quranic elementary school in which I memorized half of the Qur'an, they used to cut many science and math lessons to fit more Qur'an classes which hurt me when I went to middle and high school. I know almost everything a Muslim should know if not more, having said that Ive always had my suspensions. the way Islam treats women never made sense to me, I don't think of myself lesser than a man and I don't want to live my whole life as someone possession, I want to be free I want to live my life without having a guardian over my head. even 40 year old women here are treated like a baby who needs protection and have someone to keep an eye on. this is just one reason among many.
